Instruments Offered

Guitar
Acoustic and electric, classical fingerpicking to contemporary strumming. Suitable for ages 7 and up, complete beginners welcome.

Violin
Classical technique built on solid foundations: posture, tone, and music theory. From first position through advanced repertoire.

Viola
The warm, rich voice of the string family. Claire tailors lessons to your goals, whether you're starting fresh or switching from violin.

Mandolin
Bluegrass, folk, and classical styles. A natural step for guitarists looking to expand their sound, and a great first instrument too.

What Students Say
"My daughter has been learning violin for six months and I can't believe how far she's come. Claire is patient, skilled, and shows up every week without fail."
Jennifer M.
"As an adult beginner on guitar I was nervous about looking foolish. Claire made it completely approachable. No judgment, just music."
David S.
"Claire teaches both my kids, one on viola, one on mandolin. Having one tutor come to us has simplified our entire week."
Rachel T.

About Claire
Claire Whitmore has been performing and teaching strings and guitar for over 15 years. A graduate of Western Washington University, she has taught students from age 5 to 75, adapting her approach to every learning style and musical goal.
When she's not teaching, Claire performs with the Bellingham Chamber Ensemble and the Whatcom Folk Collective. She brings that stage experience into every lesson, because music is meant to be played, not just practiced.
